Saturday anyway now over for the OTHER camp - the NY P5 GE Camp! ok i didn't expect a cultural camp but anything to go back to my alma mater again! see whether the *itches have mellowed... so this camp had 4 schools i think - NY, Nanhua, Taonan, C High - and it was themed around all the olden "sects" eg Shaolin and stuff. i was paired up with Jiakun to be in charge of a very 'quiet and unwilling-to-participate' group (warned the teacher) called ri yue shen jiao. as in sun-moon-goddess-sect or something. haha - the teachers were in front to demonstrate kungfu moves which could hardly be described as PT - ending off with a dragonfly dance? pooh. so we were supposed to draw a flag at first they were all sitting there, and what the hell. so we got them to discuss and brainstorm. (actually i was asking Jiakun to do the talking - lest i make a fool of myself by speaking sing-nese, heh.) so in the end a few people went solo and started colouring. i was like making sarcastic remarks all the way. but then again, if i had been one of them, i'd probably be one of those people sitting OUTSIDE the circle and talking to their friends. but one thing good about this camp is the food! we had like morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. morning tea was still ok - pastries with soya bean. (soya bean with a lot of funny red stuff, so i made sure i didn't drink TOO much...) then came the "academic" part. link two parts of common sayings. you were supposed to play scissors-paper-stone with some guy from other groups; if you won you got to take a part of one saying. afterwards, match them up. i have a feeling we did real crappily at this. and hey! lunch! at first we were supposed to wait for the kids to get their food and serve them drinks, but we finally got to eat! not bad for a cultural camp, the food. we did some other things (including afternoon tea :D) then we watched a movie. xiao ao jiang hu, and it was quite funny until i saw eyeballs poked out among other bloody scenes. sheesh! then i started playing handphone games. not really interested in old chinese movies with gory scenes. and for the overall results! yeh, we had a points system, and surprise surprise! our group got 9th! ie, 4th last. in the end all the helpers got a chinese chess set (which was quite okay, not those cheapskate 10-cent kind) and 10 hours CIP! hooray. oops! this is stupid but i actually drafted this and forgot about it. and here comes a blog post! (please continue to visit though i've slacked on the posts...) [9:33 AM] We're big, we're bad, and we're...adorable? |
